Hello,
Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community Forum.
As per the problem description, I understand that you are facing intermittent wireless printer connection issue on your Windows 7 HP pavilion DV7 computer. Sometimes it works fine after resetting router and restarting the computer, sometimes it requires you to reload printer software and drivers.
I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.
- Is this issue restricted to printer only? Do other connected network devices work fine when the problem appears with the printer?
- Is this computer connected to a group of computers and other devices through wireless network?
- Were there any significant software or hardware changes made prior to this issue?
There can be a number of reasons for dropping/limited wireless connection in Windows, some common issues that can cause these problems are:
- Corrupted or incompatible drivers.
- Missing updates.
- Incorrect network connection settings.
- Hardware or software problems.
- Inappropriate distance from the router or obstruction.
- Interference from other devices.
A network adapter driver is used by your computer to communicate with your wireless network adapter. Outdated, incompatible, or corrupted network adapter drivers can prevent network connections or cause intermittent disconnections.
If you've had recent power outages, viruses, or other computer problems, it's possible that the driver has become corrupted. Resetting network adaptors or downloading and installing the latest network adapter driver can resolve these types of problems.
Hp Printer Not Connecting To Wireless Network
Let’s try these methods below to identify the actual cause of the issue and troubleshoot accordingly.
Method 1:
Sometimes inappropriate computer distance or obstructions or interference with some home devices may cause the wireless connection to drop.Move your PC closer to the router or access point. If the PC is portable, try moving it around to determine the range of the wireless signal and the best place to use your PC.
If you can't get closer to the router or access point, consider buying and installing an external antenna for your wireless network adapter to improve its reception. Method 2:
Limited/ Intermittent connection means that the system has successfully connected to the router and network device, but the computer wasn't assigned a valid IP address, so you can't actually get to the Internet or connect to the network devices. It can also indicate that a valid IP address was assigned but that the computer doesn't have Internet connectivity. If you're connected to a home network, try restarting the router.
Check if you are able to obtain an IP (internet protocol) address. Follow the steps below to do so:
- Go to Start screen type command prompt select command prompt as an Administrator.
- Click ‘OK’ to open a MS-DOS command line window.
- Type 'ipconfig /all' (without the quotation marks), and then hit the ‘ENTER’ key.
- type ipconfig /flushdns.
- Type “ipconfig /release” (Without Quotes) and press Enter.
- Type “ipconfig /renew” and press Enter.
- Type “exit” and press Enter.
Check if that solves the problem.

Wireless routers give you the ability to connect multiple computers together to share files and Internet access. You can also use the wireless router to connect all of your computers to the same printer so that each can print from it simultaneously. To connect a printer to a wireless router you need to change several settings on each of the computers that use the printer.
Step 1
Check the manual that came with your printer to determine if it has built-in wireless capabilities. Acquire a wireless printer adapter if the printer does not have a built-in wireless device.
